MJOC Club Permit Scheme

As a benefit to members the club offers the VicRoads Club Permit Scheme (CPS) for members who own a vehicle that is more than 25 years old and is in a roadworthy condition. The Permit allows for either 45 or 90 days of use per year

The Club has Policies and Procedures in place, which deal with how the Club
Permit Scheme runs within our Club and considers members obligations and compliance with Vicroads rules and regulations.

To ensure members understand the above responsibility and the Vicroads Log Book system, on application members sign and undergo a written contractual agreement to follow the policies and procedures of the MJOC CPS which includes taking responsibility for any possible modifications and maintaining the vehicle in roadworthy condition.

Club Membership Requirement

The scheme is only available to current financial members and members must remain financial to maintain inclusion in the CPS. A lapse of membership may result in vehicle becoming unregistered after 14 days or more.

A VicRoads CPS log book is used to record your use of the vehicle. When driving your CPS vehicle, you must carry your VicRoads log book and permit (with that day’s driving details completed). Victoria Police enforce the scheme and this log book must be completed and kept in the vehicle whilst in use.

The scheme has two types of permit classification

1. H plates which are for vehicles that are not modified and comply with the requirements of the roadworthy certificate.
2. M plates which are for modified vehicles that do not comply with the roadworthy certificate regulations and require either an Engineers Certificate or a VASS Certificate.

To participate in the MJOC CPS you must be a current member of the club.

Checklist for new Club Permits

1. Consider your vehicle's Eligibility Requirements and what will be required for a roadworthy. You may need to consult a mechanic
2. Join MJOC via New Member Signup or Read more about membership here
3. Obtain your Roadworthy Certificate (Note: this will be current for only 30 days)
   1. For Modified vehicles: Engineers Certificate or a VASS Certificate
4. Fill in documentation
   1. MJOC Club Permit Scheme Agreement Form (available to you once you become a member)
   2. VicRoads Club Permit Scheme Application Form
   3. VicRoads Vehicle eligibility and standards declaration for club permit vehicles
   4. Certificate of Roadworthiness (current for 30 days)
5. Either:
   1. Attend an MJOC Member Meeting (held monthly) and bring:
      1. Your completed, signed forms listed at point 4
      2. Vehicle for inspection by Club Scrutineer
   2. Email the Club Permit Officer
      1. Your completed, signed forms listed at point 4
      2. Dated photographs including
         1. Passenger and drivers sides
         2. Front and back
         3. Interior drivers side
         4. Under bonnet
         5. VIN / Engine and compliance plate
6. Once you've received your signed VicRoads documents back - Go to VicRoads with your documentation (vehicle is not required to be present). If all is well, they'll give you the plates that day

Documentation can be signed physically or by electronic.
Completed documents can be mailed or scanned and emailed back.
All Vicroads documents require signing by the MJOC Scrutineer or Club Permit Officer.

If your vehicle is modified, have a read of Vic Roads, Vehicle Standard Information sheet No. 8 & 33 (VSI 8 & 33) to make sure your car does not exceed those standards or an engineer’s report (VASS Certificate) will be required prior to authorisation to go on the scheme.😃
