Easy AWD & 4WD Rating


Vehicle and Driver Requirements

All-wheel drive and high range 4WD. Novice drivers. No training required

Can be low clearance with single range 4WD and road tyres


Terrain

Mostly unsealed roads with no significant obstacles or steep gradients

No recovery expected. No stress to driver or vehicle.


New Rating for Social Events


Easy Social Event

Used for trips and events that do not require any 4WD or AWD use and are basically 2WD activities, Picnics, Scenic Drives etc.

Medium Rating


Vehicle and Driver Requirements

High range and Low range will be used. MJOC Basic Driver Training completion required. Suitable for both novice and experienced drivers. Vehicles with medium clearance with dual range 4WD system and road tyres.


Terrain

Tracks with steep grades, generally up to 20' incline. terrain will include rocky, slippery, sandy sections. May have shallow water crossings and bog holes. Recovery very likely. May include some challenging sections. Will become more challenging in wet conditions.


Examples

Includes all types of terrain including local ranges and Victorian high country, beach and sand driving, deserts and snow.

It is considered normal to get stuck.

Difficult Rating


Vehicle and Driver Requirements

Significant Low Range 4WD use in more difficult terrain. MJOC Basic Driver Training completion required. Suitable for both drivers with some experience and more experienced drivers. Vehicles with medium ground clearance and all-terrain tyres.

Low clearance vehicles such as Standard TJ Wrangler, XJ, KK or KJ Cherokee and KL Cherokee will be required to be lifted


Terrain

Tracks with frequent steep hills with over 20' inclines. Deeper ruts and bog holes may be encountered and possible deeper water crossings. Very slippery terrain with larger rocky sections and challenging muddy conditions likely.

It is considered normal to get stuck.

Very Difficult Rating


Vehicle and Driver Requirements

Significant Low range 4WD included. Drivers must have significant experience in Difficult rated trips. Vehicles must have high clearance with larger tyres and be fully self recoverable. Completion of MJOC Basic Driver Training. Completion of MJOC Advanced Driver Training is preferred. Drivers should have the training or experience to attempt very technical challenges.

Vehicles must have winch recovery equipment and aggressive tyres such as All terrain or Mud Terrain. The Trip Leader may specify additional equipment or driver skill set requirements such as differential locks or MJOC Advanced Driver Training to participate. Do not attempt this rating of trip if you or your vehicle are not equipped accordingly.


Terrain

Terrain will include very challenging conditions for both driver and vehicle. Will include very steep climbs and very deep ruts and bog holes. May have very difficult water crossings, Will include tracks with large rocky conditions, very deep mud and very technical driving conditions.

Vehicle damage may occur so please be aware.

The trip leader has the discretion to deny participation if conditions are not met.

Vehicle recovery very likely.

Will be even more challenging in wet conditions.


Equipment Requirements

Must be self recoverable with winch and other recovery gear.

Must meet Trip Leaders specific requirements.
