MJOC & FWDV Host Key Meeting with Land Managers

Over the weekend of November 8th & 9th, the Melbourne Jeep Owners Club (MJOC) and Four Wheel Drive Victoria (FWDV) successfully co-hosted a vital meeting with senior managers from DEECA, Parks Victoria, and Forest Fire Management (FFM)!
This event brought together various other 4WD clubs to foster communication and discuss critical issues concerning our community and the land we love. MJOC proudly acts as a liaison for key areas like Rubicon, Toolangi, Marysville, and Lake Eildon NP.
The weekend included a drive through the beautiful Rubicon State Forest and a fantastic meeting at Taggerty, featuring Guest Speaker Mark from the Victorian High Country Huts Association (VHCHA).

Key Takeaways & Wins for 4WDers:
* New National Parks: Discussion on the Lerderderg and Wombat forest integration into National Parks, with provisions to allow dogs in certain new NP areas!
* Volunteering Boost: Parks Victoria made aware that its volunteer program needs to reduce bureaucracy and improve processes.
* Essential Relationships: The strength of our relationship with VHCHA is key to future volunteer efforts in maintaining high country huts.
* Track Access Focus: Land managers made aware that track clearing and opening is the primary focus of every 4WD club—a testament to the dedication of our members!
* Data-Driven Management: FWDV has received a Government grant and is implementing traffic monitors in Toolangi/Murrundindi to gather real-time data on area use, aiding future resource allocation.

This meeting was a huge success thanks to the coordination by Craig (FWDV) and Rob Sharpe (MJOC), and the professional engagement from all land managers.
Strong partnerships are essential for securing future track access!
This is the way forward in ensuring we continue to enjoy our 4WD recreation.
