Huge January Members Meeting

Our members meeting on January 31st saw over 60 Jeeps and around 80 members turn of for the show and shine and BBQ. It was a perfect night for the meeting which was held outdoors in the carpak at Ashwood Hall. Many members brought along items for sale in the car boot sale and enjoyed success with many items finding new homes.

A fantastic BBQ dinner was put on by the club with many members helping out behind the scenes to make sure everyone was fed and had a great time. The vibe at the meeting was sizzling and positive with some members that had not been around for a while making the effort and many new members attended. We even had some non members come along seeing our post on Facebook and ended up joining on the night.

The show and shine was massive with all sorts of Jeeps lining up. Some great prizes were also won by the winners in each category and the main prize of an ULTIMATE 9 Electronic Throttle Conrol (Value $300) was won by the Jeep with the most votes.

The winners were  .. .. ... ................ More

The Simpson Desert Adventure 2022

By Dennis Webb

Finally we were off on the Simpson Desert Trip which had been high on the bucket list of must do trips for many years.

The convoy consisted of 5 Jeeps and a Chevy Silverado. We had Stuart in his new Gladiator Rubicon V6 petrol leading the way, Peter in his Grand Cherokee Overland V6 petrol, Alan in his Grand Cherokee V6 diesel, Brian in his Grand Cherokee V6 diesel, Stefan in his Grand Cherokee V6 diesel and myself in the 2500 Chevy Silverado. I was going to take my 2 door Wrangler Rubicon but some of the distance stages required plenty of fuel, so with the fridge, swag, bags and 4 jerry cans of fuel, I simply could not fit it all in the little Jeep. Our sleeping accommodation was Stuart, Brian and Stefan had rooftop tents, Peter and Alan both had tents, and I Dennis in a swag on a swag platform under my 270 degree bush company pole less awning,- this will be my first time in a swag, and sometimes a motel may be involved.

Everyone except me met at the BP Calder Park, I joined them at Bendigo, we proceeded to Swan Hill for a bite of lunch and top up with the cheaper fuel prior to heading to the Lake Mungo camping ground, on arrival we picked out an individually laid out camping area – recommend this site.

Next morning we headed off to Zanci homestead site comprising of many outbuildings, some of have been restored back to original condition and the Mungo Woolshed built in 1869 has a ingenious drop-log cypress pine construction from the historical Gol Gol pastoral station which is located in Willandra lakes region-very interesting walks and information to be learnt including the Mungo lookout................................

The March long weekend saw a contingent of MJOC members head over to South Australia to play on the beaches and sand dunes of the magnificient Limestone Coast of South Australia. Base Camp was Beachport at the Southern Ocean Caravan Park which as always was a popular spot on this busy weekend. The caravan park was at capicity with travellers from all over coverging on the town. Most MJOC members were at the caravan park but some had to find accomodation in Millecent and South End. Michael Haworth also came across from Adelaide where he recentlt re-located to and in all we had 15 Jeeps from MJOC. Well, we did have a Patrol and a Ranger as well as Michaels Everest in the group and Trip Leader duties were assisted by Michael.

We all arrived on the Friday and settled in for a great weekend. Saturday saw the group on the main beach from Beachport to Southend where we held a mini sand driving training session to refresh everyones skills and we also demonstrated a snatch recovery and how to use Maxtrak treads.

Once this was completed we headed off down the beach to Southend ..............

MJOC Muster 2022 Trip

Report by Sharon McGreggor

What took me so long? I’ve been a member of MJOC for 5 years now and I've seriously been missing out on some wonderful friendships and fun by not attending any musters till now!

This year is the 25th Anniversary event and Oh boy! did our club put on a muster to be remembered! We arrived Thursday late afternoon to find many camp sites already set up with caravans, camper trailers, tents and swags. There were Jeeps of all makes and models scattered around the Alexandra Pony club and the smiling faces of the muster committee who had been working tirelessly to organise and set-up were there at the registration tent to greet us and give us our Jeep showbag full of goodies. We were directed to the camping area and while setting up, we met and chatted to other members who were camped around us.

Friday evenings social event was ...............................
