The Scenic Route Home From Birdsville

Warning: If the Walker's Crossing Public Access Route opens before this trip we will re-route through Walkers crossing. This would then become a "Difficult" Trip.

We will drive east on the Birdsville Development Rd before turning south to Haddon Corner and then down to Innamincka where we will camp on the Common and have a pub meal the first night.

Next day is a very big day driving (650 km) so its off early to Cameron's corner for a quick lunch then south down the border Downs Rd with the aim of making Silverton for night 2. Because of the wildlife risk we will not push on into dusk. So if we don't make it to Silverton we will find somewhere to camp along the track.

Silverton is another pub meal (either dinner day two or quite probably lunch day 3) and if the Mad Max Museum is open we will spend a little time there.

From Silverton its south-east to Broken Hill. If we get the chance we will call in on the Flying Doctor base there and take the tour (it's more interesting than you might think). From Broken Hill its about 9 hours of blacktop driving back to Melbourne. So we'll talk about some options when we know what time we are ready to leave Broken Hill. Last year we camped overnight at Lake Mungo (which is an interesting place) but it was hellishly cold.
