Victorian High Country Huts Association 20th Anniversary

Ian Fletcher | Published on 9/29/2023

The Victorian High Country Huts Association was founded in February 2003 in response to the destructive bushfires which swept through the Victorian high country in January 2003.
Many of the high country’s historically significant huts were destroyed as a direct result of these huge fires.

From humble beginnings the Victorian High Country Huts Association has become a powerful "voice for the huts’ and for the past 20 years has been dedicated to the conservation, maintenance, rebuild and restoration to protect this very vital part of our high country heritage and culture.
It seems fitting we now acknowledge and look back on all the amazing preservation work which has been achieved to protect and preserve the historically significant huts.
All are invited to join the Victorian High Country Huts Association as they celebrate all things huts.
Details of the event can be found on their Facebook page

We acknowledge and respect Victorian Traditional Owners as the original custodians of Victoria’s land and waters, their unique ability to care for Country and deep spiritual connection to it. We honour Elders past, present and emerging, whose knowledge and wisdom has ensured the continuation of culture and traditional practices.
